The Quest
I have been all alone
Throughout this life,
Through the sunlit days
And the freezing nights
I wonder why,
Why one grows older,
The tender days
Of glory and pleasure pass by;
Still waiting for long,
Why I haven’t found happiness yet.
The days grow longer
These summer days
But happiness still
Immeasurable – So, neutral,
Hoping for the winters
To bring some glory
Lighting the shade
Peeping through the pine trees.
Lovely those days will be
When the nightingale sings,
The lonely forgone days of despair
To be still filled with joy.
The only companion I wish
to be mine, I hope…
Would some day enlighten
This dark shade of the withered tree,
Still hoping, still longing
Why I haven’t found happiness yet.
